What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured two people at I-635 in Garland, TX on August 6th, 2021. Police say it happened around 9:10 a.m. Investigators believe that a Jeep Cherokee operated by 20-year-old Isaiah Desean Polk failed to control its speed and performed a faulty evasive action in order to avoid colliding with a tractor-trailer. The action was unsuccessful and after colliding with the rear of the tractor-trailer, the Jeep also struck a Dodge Ram operated by 57-year-old Russell Walker. The Dodge rotated due to the collision and struck a Ford F-250 operated by a 40-year-old Lewisville woman. Walker suffered minor injuries while Polk was more seriously injured. The other drivers involved reported no injuries. Police say that a contributing factor in the collision was the Dodge changing lanes when unsafe to do so.
