What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a driver at County Rd 181 in Hays County, TX on March 23rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 3:06 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Nitro operated by 73-year-old Jack Rogers was headed northeast on County Rd 181 when it veered from the road and lost control The vehicle first struck a utility pole and continued through a medal pipe fence before coming to a rest. Police say the vehicle caught fire and Rogers suffered fatal injuries. Officers say during their inspection of the vehicle and area, an open alcoholic container was found inside as as a screw stuck in one of the tires indicating both alcohol involvement and possible tire issues contributed to the crash.
