What Happened

Houston Police are investigating a crash that killed a man at Southwest Fwy in Houston, TX on April 23rd, 2023. Police are saying it happened around 1:15 a.m. According to investigators, Jacob Charles Lewis previously traveling northbound in a vehicle that allegedly suffered a mechanical issue. Lewis is said to have been outside his disabled vehicle, attempting to push it from the road when he was struck by another vehicle. The vehicle, allegedly operated by 34-year-old Alan Bryant Hayes, left the scene following the collision. Police say his vehicle was followed by another driver before he was located and later arrested. Lewis was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. His passenger was also hospitalized with minor injuries. Authorities say Hayes faces charges that include Failure to Stop and Render Aid and Driving While Intoxicated.
