What Happened

Lubbock Police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian at 82nd St and Ave U in Lubbock, TX on October 4th, 2021.Police say the incident happened around 1 a.m. A pedestrian was said to have been legally crossing at a crosswalk when a vehicle ran a red light and collided with a pedestrian. The vehicle then left the scene, leaving the pedestrian, 20-year-old Jacoby Springfield, behind to suffer from injuries he later died from. The driver of the vehicle, 50-year-old Christina Hernandez, was later located and arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter and Failure to Stop and Render Aid.
