What Happened

El Paso Police are investigating a collision that killed a person at US 54 near Cassidy Gate in El Paso, TX on December 11th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 7:35 p.m. A Los Paisanos Lines bus operated by 52-year-old Guadalupe Alonso Maciel collided with a Chevy S-10 that was disabled in a second travel lane with a driver and passenger inside. Investigators allege that Maciel was distracted by his cellphone while driving. The passenger of the disabled pickup truck, 51-year-old Jacqueline Sheffield, died while the driver, 57-year-old Charles Bullard, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Maciel was arrested and charged with Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault.
