Police say the incident happened around 10:38 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford F-150 operated by 44-year-old Hunter Samberson was westbound on Highland Ave before leaving the roadway for unclear reasons. The vehicle is said to have traveled across an eastbound lane before colliding with a power pole. The impact caused a 73-year-old passenger in the vehicle, James Boothe, to strike his head on the windshield, causing injuries believed to be serious in nature. Officials say Samberson was evaluated for possible injuries and sources indicate Intoxication Assault and Driving While Intoxicated charges were recommended and/or issued.
