What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that left two drivers killed at State Hwy 172 in Jackson County, TX on December 21st, 2022. Police say it happened around 3:37 p.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Altima operated by 19-year-old Ler Htoo was headed northbound on Hwy 172. Headed southbound was a Ford F-150 operated by 67-year-old James Mutchler. Police believe the Nissan crossed into a southbound lane, colliding with the front of the Ford. The collision caused Mutchler to be ejected from the vehicle, leaving him with fatal injuries. Htoo was also killed in the crash while a passenger in his vehicle, age 20, is believed to have been seriously injured. Authorities did not have additional information to share.
