What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-20 in Martin County, TX on May 22nd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11:18 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 1500 operated by 26-year-old James Sherrod was headed westbound, allegedly evading police, when it exited onto an I-20 service road and lost control. The vehicle traveled up a cement embankment before hitting a pillar and overturning. Sherrod suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Authorities have not yet released additional information.
