What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at South Mopac Expy in Austin, TX on September 27th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 1:05 a.m. According to investigators, a Honda Accord operated by 26-year-old Javier Graves was southbound in a middle lane, traveling through an active constriction zone. Police say the a right lane of travel was shut down due to construction as the Honda approached. The vehicle is alleged to have veered into a left lane in order to pass another vehicle before veering back into the middle lane. From there, the vehicle is said to have lost control, colliding with a commercial truck parked in the right construction lane. The crash left Graves with fatal injuries. A 49-year-old occupant of the commercial truck had minor injuries, according to police. Additional information was not available.
