What Happened

Houston Police are investigating a crash that killed a Good Samaritan at North Loop in Houston, TX on March 6th, 2023. Police say it happened around 7:25 p.m. According to investigators, a Hyundai Santa Fe was in a shoulder lane with a flat tire. Police say a Dodge Ram stopped to assist the driver and parked ahead of the Hyundai. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Javier Leyva, is said to have exited the vehicle and walked to the rear of the Hyundai. While helping with the tire, Leyva was struck by a Toyota Corolla. Thee Toyota was also struck by a vehicle, and that vehicle left the scene. The driver of the Toyota, 40-year-old Brandon Bateman, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Leyvan was killed in a collision. Additional information was not provided.
