Officials have information on a crash that injured a driver at US 180 in Borden County, TX on December 29th, 2023. Police say the incident occurred around 10:10 a.m. Initial investigation suggests a Dodge Journey, operated by 47-year-old Jeremy Swearingen, was eastbound on US 87 at the time. Investigators say a commercial truck was traveling in an adjacent westbound lane when an unidentified object became detached from the vehicle. The object is said to have traveled into the eastbound lane where it struck the Dodge. Reports say the impact was serious enough that Swearingen was seriously injured. The Dodge also veered from the roadway and into a barrow ditch before traveling through a fence and coming to rest. The truck involved was not found at the scene when authorities arrived.
