What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at  TX 64 in Van Zandt County, TX on January 5th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 6:32 p.m. A Ford F-650 operated by a 29-year-old North Richland Hills man is said to have been headed westbound on TX 64, approaching the intersection with County Rd 2111. A GMC Sierra operated by 76-year-old Jerry Austin Duncan was headed eastbound on TX 64 and crossed into a center turn lane to go westbound. Investigators say in doing so, the vehicle cut a corner and was struck by the Ford. The vehicles were pushed from the road into a ditch and Duncan suffered serious injuries. Records indicate a charge for Cut Corner Left Turn was recommended and/or issued.
