What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at US 87 in Wilson County, TX on August 18th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 9:50 a.m. A Hino box truck operated by a 31-year-old San Antonio man was headed south on US-87 when it crossed a center stripe under unclear circumstances into northbound lanes. It then collided with a Toyota Tundra operated by 34-year-old Jerry Jay Gallegos. Gallegos suffered fatal injuries in the collision. A passenger in the Hino truck suffered minor injuries while the driver was seriously injured.
