What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US 259 in Gregg County, TX on September 30th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 6:04 p.m. Investigators believe a Ford Mustang operated by 31-year-old Jesse Stroman was southbound on US 259. At the same time, a Chevrolet Silverado was headed northbound, turning left through a crossover. The vehicle is said to have been attempting to enter onto FM 1650 before it was allegedly struck by the approaching Ford. The impact caused the vehicles to overturn several times, before one or both vehicles caught fire. Reports indicate Stroman suffer fatal injuries and a 33-year-old passenger, who was not publicly identified, suffered serious injuries. The other driver, age 68 and also not publicly identified, suffered alleged serious injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
