What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a person and injured 10 others at  I-10 near Fort Hancock, TX on December 31st, 2021. Officials say the incident happened around 4 p.m. under rainy weather conditions. Police indicate a semi-truck operated by 24-year-old Khushpal Singh was traveling at what they believe was an unsafe speed for the road conditions and lost control. It then veered across a center median into eastbound lanes where it collided with an oncoming RV. A passenger in the RV, 36-year-old Jesus Eduardo Cabral, was killed in the collision. None others were hospitalized, including six in critical condition. Police identified several of the victims as 59-year-old Eduardo Cabral, 510year-old Monica Cabral, 49-year-old Jose Manuel Ambriz, 40-year-old Lizhet Pacheco, 27-year-old Leo Gallegos and 28-year-old Denisse Gallegos. A 16-year-old, 9-year-old and 4-year-old were also injured in the collision. Singh was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Additional information was not available.
