What Happened

League City Police have information on a crash that left two people dead at FM 646 in League City, TX on April 4th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Investigators allege a vehicle operated by 69-year-old Michael Strother was exiting a parking lot and attempting to cross eastbound lanes of FM 646 to go westbound. The vehicle is said to have struck a vehicle in the process, causing fatal injuries to 24-year-old passenger, Jillian Coatney. The driver, 28-year-old Genesta Humphrey was taken to an area hospital with injuries she later died from. Authorities have alleged that Strother was intoxicated at the time of the crash and have moved to file Intoxication Manslaughter charges. Additional details were not available.
