What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a collision that injured a person at US 287 in Wichita County, TX on August 17th, 2021. Police say it happened around 3:48 p.m. A Toyota Avalon operated by 53-year-old Jim Young was said to have been attempting to overtake another vehicle when it lost control and struck a guardrail. Upon attempting to correct back onto the roadway it crossed into the path of a commercial truck and was struck. Young suffered serious injuries and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. The other driver was not injured.
