What Happened

State Police have identified a driver killed in a single-vehicle crash at FM 50 in Mumford, TX on June 25th, 2023. Police say it happened around 9:35 a.m. and named 33-year-old Jimmy Gonzalez as the driver killed. Investigators believe an 18-wheeler operated by Gonzalez had been headed southbound, approaching a curve in the roadway. They say the truck lost control at the curve and overturned before crashing into a nearby railroad berm. While Gonzalez was killed, a 14-year-old passenger was taken to an area hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries. At this time, police do not have any additional information to share.
