What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at I-10 in San Antonio, TX on February 12th, 2022. Police believe the incident happened around 7:19 p.m. Responding officers say a Chevrolet Silverado was found at the scene to have crashed into a guardrail. Officers were informed by the driver that the vehicle had to take evasive action to avoid another vehicle, however, officers noted there did not appear to be evidence at the scene to corroborate this version of events. They also add the driver allegedly displayed signs of intoxication. A passenger in the vehicle, Joaquin De La Sancha-Beltran, suffered from fatal injuries. The driver, 64-year-old Rial Gomez, was not injured, and records indicate a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter was issued.
