What Happened

Houston Police are investigating a collision that killed a bicyclist at West Little York Rd in Houston, TX on November 29th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. A Toyota pickup truck was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with a bicyclist. After that, it veered from the road before crashing into a pole near an apartment complex. The cyclist, Joel David Middaugh, died at the scene. The pickup truck driver Ronald Ariel Sariles and a female passenger, Amilcar Alexis Murillo, were both hospitalized with injuries. Investigators say both showed signs of intoxication and indicated Sariles faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
