What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials identified the person killed in a crash at Sheldon Rd in Harris County, TX on September 5th, 2021. They say it happened around 2:55 a.m. 31-year-old Joel Hernandez Jr is said to have been walking with the flow of traffic in a southbound lane of Sheldon Rd. Investigators allege he failed to yield right of way to a BMW X3 operated by a 25-year-old The Woodlands man before he was struck from the rear. Hernandez, who police say had a BAC level of .196 at the time of the collision, died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
