Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a pedestrian at State Hwy 87 and Holiday Beach Rd in Crystal Beach, TX on May 22nd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 1:38 a.m. Police say a Chevrolet Impala operated by a 22-year-old China, TX man was headed westbound on Hwy 87 prior to colliding with a pedestrian. Police say the pedestrian, identified as 55-year-old John Hamm, had been in the middle of the road directing traffic away from a separate accident with marked police and emergency vehicles also present. Investigators listed multiple reasons why driver visibility may have been impaired at the time of the collision, which caused Hamm serious injuries.
