What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information on a crash that injured a driver at State Hwy 89 in San Patricio County, TX on September 20th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 11:21 a.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 69-year-old Orange Grove man was entering the roadway from a private drive and failed to yield to traffic while doing so. An approaching Hyundai Sonata operated by 68-year-old Johnny Ryals collided with the rear of the truck, which had not cleared out of the way of travel lanes. Investigators say witnesses at the scene mentioned the same serious of events. Ryals suffered serious injuries in the collision. The other driver was not injured and cited for Failure to Yield Row- Private Drive.
