What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information on a crash that injured a driver at  US 277 in Maverick County, TX on December 26th, 2021. Police say it happened around 7:50 a.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 64-year-old Dilley, TX man was exiting a private drive on US 277 while attempting to make a left turn. A Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by 39-year-old Jose Luis Chavez was headed northwest on US 277 in an area that police say was covered in heavy fog at the time. The truck reportedly failed to yield while exiting the private drive and turned into the path of the Trailblazer, causing both vehicles to collide. Chavez suffered serious injuries in the crash while the Dilley man was reportedly uninjured. Records indicate the Dilley man was issued a charge of Failure to Yield Row-Private Drive.
