What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US 87 in Howard County, TX on July 25th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 9:15 p.m. According to investigators, a Jeep Cherokee was stopped in a moving lane of travel for unclear reasons. While stopped, reports say the vehicle was struck by an approaching northbound Ram 3500, the impact causing the Jeep to overturn onto its roof in a barrow ditch. Authorities say the driver of the Jeep, identified as 64-year-old Jose Morales Gonzales Sr, was fatally injured. The other driver was not publicly identified and allegedly uninjured.
