What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that saw Jose Sapon-Mas killed at State Hwy 6 in Harris County, TX on August 26th, 2024. Police believe the incident happened around 9:28 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford F-150 was headed southbound on Hwy 6 in a middle lane of travel. Crossing westbound outside a crosswalk and while utilizing a wheelchair was 49-year-old Jose Sapon-Mas. Reports indicate the vehicle collided with Sapon-Mas and continued traveling southbound, without stopping to render aid. Following the initial collision, officials say a second collision occurred. The first driver, who was not publicly identified, allegedly later returned to the scene in a different vehicle and allegedly displayed signs of intoxication. Authorities did not have any additional inforamtion available.
