What Happened

Officials are investigating a crash that killed two people at State Hwy 16 in Jim Hogg County, TX on August 23rd, 2024. Police are saying the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. According to investigators, a For F-150 headed westbound on Hwy 16 is alleged to have veered out of its lane for unclear reasons, entering into an eastbound lanes. There, reports say the vehicle collided with an eastbound Ford Fusion. The impact is said to have caused the Ford to veer from the roadway into a shoulder where it caught fire, trapping its occupants. Officials say both the 58-year-old driver and 67-year-old passenger, Jose Sifuentes, were fatally injured. The other driver was not publicly identified and also fatally injured.
