What Happened

A multi-truck accident led to a fatality at I-45 in Freestone County, TX on January 21st, 2023. Police say it happened around 12:21 a.m. According to investigators, 21-year-old Joseph Hernandez was behind the wheel of a Ford F-150 headed southwest at the time of the crash. Headed southeast was a commercial tractor-trailer operated by an unnamed 52-year-old Lewisville man. Investigators allege the Ford veered from its lane into a guardrail before traveling back onto the roadway. As it did so, the vehicle is believed to have gone into a spin and struck the tractor-trailer. Hernandez was ejected from the truck in the impact, landing in the roadway an unable to clear the road before being struck by multiple vehicles, suffering fatal injuries. Officials did not provide additional information.
