Texas Department of Public Safety Officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at FM 1281 in El Paso, TX on June 9th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 10 p.m. According to investigators, a Hyundai Veloster operated by 21-year-old Jovani Eduardo Acosta was headed northeast on Horizon Blvd at an alleged high rate of speed before it lost control and collided with the rear of a GMC Topkick. The impact forced the Hyundai partially under the Topkick, causing injuries that Acosta later died from. The driver of the Topkick left the scene of the accident.
