What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian at FM 529 in Harris County, TX on March 7th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 8:39 p.m. According to police, a Subaru Outback was headed westbound on FM 529 when a pedestrian allegedly failed to yield right of way and began traveling south to north across the road. The vehicle reportedly took evasive action before colliding with the pedestrian, identified as 42-year-old Juan Altamirano-Mendez.  Altamirano-Mendez, who officials allege may have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol, suffered fatal injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
