What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at State Hwy 154 in Gilmer, TX on February 27th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 8:45 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Express operated by a 32-year-old Shreveport man was traveling westbound on TX 154 when it swerved into oncoming traffic. It struck a Jeep Cherokee headed eastbound, causing the Jeep to veer from the road. The Chevrolet continued 500 feet before stopping in a parking lot. The driver was arrested on  DWI charge. The driver of the Jeep, identified as 59-year-old Julia Cardenas, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
