What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured two people at US 287 in Bellevue, TX on August 25th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 11:20 a.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 64-year-old Blooming Grove man was slowing to make a right hand turn onto FM 1288 when a second tractor-trailer approached from behind. The truck failed to control its speed and attempted to avoid a collision by veering from its lane but stuck the first tractor-trailer during its turn. The Blooming Grove man suffered minor injuries. The driver of the second truck, 49-year-old Julio de la Cruz Jimenez, was seriously injured and charged with Failure to Control Speed.
