What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at Hwy 87 near Burkeville, TX on December 22nd, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 6 p.m. 55-year-old Julius Hippler was headed northbound in a Ford pickup truck when a piece of lumber hanging from a southbound flatbed truck traveled through the windshield of the pickup. The lumbar struck Hippler in the head and he was hospitalized with serious head trauma. Police are currently searching for the driver of the flatbed truck.
