What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 90 in Val Verde County, TX on May 7th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2:10 a.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Camry operated by 30-year-old Demetrius Childs was headed southbound on US 90 approaching the intersection with US 277. A Jeep Wrangler operated by 28-year-old Karina Gaona Diego was stopped at a red light at the intersection before the Camry failed to control its speed and collided with the rear of the Keep. Both vehicles veered from the road in the collision. Diego suffered minor injuries while Childs was more seriously injured. Reports indicate Childs was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
