What Happened

Garland Police are investigating a collision that killed a woman at Shiloh Rd and NW Hwy in Garland, TX on September 6th, 2021. Police say the incident began when police noticed a vehicle speeding and began pursuit of the vehicle. The vehicle, Honda Accord, entered into an intersection on a red light, colliding with a westbound Toyota occupied by 28-year-old Karla Rico and her 10-year-old son. The woman was killed in the collision and her son was hospitalized in critical condition. Police later caught up to the Honda and the driver, 37-year-old Bobby Lee Murphy, was charged with evading arrest and faces several other charges.
