What Happened

Officials are investigating a collision that injured a woman at US 287 in Washburn, TX, on September 28th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 9:25 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer headed eastbound is alleged to have entered a median, allegedly due to driver fatigue, before re-entering the roadway and overcorrecting. Police say the vehicle struck a median and overturned into the roadway, where it was struck by an approaching eastbound Ram 3500. Police say the 76-year-old driver, who was not publicly identified, was allegedly uninjured, while a 73-year-old passenger, Kathleen Long, was seriously injured. The truck operator, also not publicly identified, was allegedly uninjured and cited for Failure to Drive in a Single Lane.
