What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-20 near Eastland, TX on August 9th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 7 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford F-150 was westbound before veering from the road for unclear reasons. Reports say the vehicle entered into a center median and went into a skid while attempting to return to the road. From there, police say the vehicle crossed westbound lanes over to the north side before overturning. The driver, identified as 62-year-old Kelly Michael Sims, was ejected from the vehicle in the impact and hospitalized with injuries reports say he later died from.
