What Happened

Authorities with the Texas Department of Public Safety say a teen died in a crash at Hwy 103 in Lufkin, TX on January 4th, 2023. They believe the crash happened around 8:45 p.m. According to their investigation, a tractor-trailer operated by 37-year-old Terry Vaught was traveling northbound on Crain Road. As it did, a pickup truck operated by 20-year-old Konnor Taylor was headed westbound on Hwy 103. Officials believe the tractor-trailer failed to yield to the pickup truck at the intersection and both collided. The resulting collision killed a 15-year-old passenger in the pickup truck. Taylor was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Vaught was reportedly uninjured. Officials did not provide additional details
