What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at I-635 in Mesquite, TX on March 21st, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 11:14 a.m. According to their investigation, a tractor-trailer operated by a 38-year-old Hartford, CT man was traveling southbound on 635 in a right center lane while a Mercury Grand Marquis operated by 35-year-old Lajaimeon Orzhay Tipps was in an outside lane. Police say the truck veered diagonally across the outside lane in attempt not to miss and exit and struck the Mercury, before leaving the scene. Tipps suffered minor injuries in the collision, A witness at the scene was able to provide officers with license plate information for the truck and charges for Unsafe Lane Change and No Operator License were drafted and/or issued against the driver.
