What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured a driver at I-20 in Mitchell County, TX on July 7th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 12:42 p.m. A tractor-trailer headed westbound reportedly veered into a left lane to avoid debris in a shoulder. A vehicle already in the lane, operated by 34-year-old Laura Lopez, was forced into the shoulder and ditch to avoid a collision. The vehicle, a Ford Edge, then lost control and hit a sign and cable barrier, causing her minor injuries. Her passengers were uninjured, as was the other the other driver.
