A driver police suspect of being intoxicated was involved in a crash that left a woman dead at 3rd Ave in Amarillo, TX on March 18th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Right now, investigators believe a GMC pickup truck operated by a 48-year-old male, whose name has not been disclosed, was headed eastbound at an alleged high rate of speed. The vehicle is further alleged to have run a red light at the intersection with Buchanan St, colliding with a Ford sedan operated by Laura Sanders. Sanders was taken to an area hospital following the crash where she later died. The other driver was also hospitalized, with injuries said to be non-life-threatening. Police have expressed suspicion that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash and say the incident is being investigated as an intoxication manslaughter crash.
