What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information on a crash that killed a person at FM 1942 in Harris County, TX on October 16th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 11:12 p.m. A Toyota Tundra operated by 26-year-old Omar Ortiz Hernandez is said to have collided with a Nissan Versa operated by Leslie Hernandez. Investigators allege that the Versa was backing without safety and that Ortiz Hernandez was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Leslie Hernandez and her passenger, Steven Montemayor, both died in the collision. Ortiz Hernandez was evaluated for possible injuries and a charge of Driving While Intoxicated was suggested and/or issued by police.
