What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that injured at least two people at State Hwy 71 in Bastrop County, TX on January 21st, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 1:24 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Avalanche headed eastbound is alleged to have failed to control its speed before colliding with the rear of a Nissan Sentra stopped at a red light. Following the collision, reports allege the occupants of the Chevrolet fled the scene on foot. Left behind were 25-year-old Nissan operator, Roberto Ramirez Villegas and 19-year-old passenger, Leslie Barcenas Lopez. Reports indicate Lopez suffered fatal injuries while Villegas was seriously injured. Reports say the driver and passenger of the Nissan face charges once located.
