What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver and seriously injured another at Dowdy Ferry Rd in Hutchins, TX on February 6th, 2023. Police say it happened around midnight. According to investigators, a Mercedes-Benz operated by 42-year-old Liegea Lopez Cantu was headed westbound on Dowdy Ferry. The vehicle is alleged to have crossed double yellow lines before colliding head-on with a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 42-year-old Lawrence Coleman.  The collision left Cantu with injuries she later died from. Coleman had, according to police, serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Additional information was not available.
