What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that killed one person involved at FM 1421 in San Benito, TX on April 20th, 2025. Officials are saying the incident involved a southbound semi-truck collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Aveo slowing to turn left onto Road 233. Officials say the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 70-year-old Lorenzo Guajardo was hospitalized with injuries he later died from. The driver of the semi-truck was identified as 39-year-old Luis Fernando Gonzalez Altamirano, who reports allege was charged with criminal negligent homicide. Authorities did not have additional information available.
