What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at Business 83 in Harlingen, TX on October 15th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. According to investigators, a motorcycle operated 83-year-old Loyal Clark Temple was headed eastbound on Business 83 at the time. The vehicle is said to have taken evasive action in order to avoid colliding with a Nissan that was attempting to make a left turn onto Karr Ave at the time. Sources allege the Nissan traveled into eastbound lanes to make the turn. The motorcycle lost control and struck a tree while attempting to avoid the Nissan, which police say did not stop to render aid. Temple suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The Nissan operator was identified as 32-year-old Maria Rodriguez Muniz. Reports indicate Muniz was arrested on a failure to stop and render aid charge as well as a charge of criminal negligent homicide. Additional information was not available.
