What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at I-35 in Frio County, TX on April 18th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 4:35 p.m. According to investigators, a commercial truck operated by a 32-year-old Apple Valley, MN man was headed northbound on I-35 when it changed lanes in an attempt to pass a Dodge Grand Caravan operated by 77-year-old Luciano Garza Alvarado. Due to the lane change being allegedly unsafe, it struck the left side of the Dodge causing it to lose control and veered into a center median. Alvarado suffered minor injuries while a passenger, identified as 58-year-old Beatriz Govea Alvarado, was one of two people to suffer possible injuries. The Apple Valley man was not injured and reports indicate charges for Change Lane When Unsafe, Failure to Control Speed and Failure to Report Non-lnjury Accident were recommended and/or issued against him.
