What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a person at FM 1500 in Lamar County, TX on September 19th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 12:05 a.m. A Honda Accord operated by 19-year-old Madeline Evans was headed southbound on FM 1500 as it approached northbound vehicles. Investigators say the vehicle swerved right to avoid a collision and veered from the road into a ditch. It struck a culvert and went airborne before it landed on a private driveway before overturning. Evans, who investigators allege was intoxicated while driving, suffered serious injuries. Records indicate a charge of Driving While Intoxicated With Open Container was recommended and/or issued.
