What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured a person at I-35 in Medina County, TX on August 10th, 2021. Police say it happened around 4:40 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 54-year-old Dallas man was traveling northbound as it approached stopped traffic in a construction zone. The driver of a vehicle ahead, 44-year-old Laura Yvette Martinez, moves the her vehicle to an inside lane as a result as did the truck. The two vehicles collided and the truck also hit a vehicle occupied by 53-year-old Maheshkumar G Patel. That vehicle then struck one occupied by 28-year-old Samantha Marie Saenz and that vehicle collided with one occupied by 41-year-old Kristen Brashear. Several people were evaluated for possible or no injuries while Patel suffered serious injuries. The truck driver was cited for Failure to Control Speed.
