Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a man at I-20 in Mitchell County, TX on February 1st, 2023. Police are saying the crash happened around 7:51 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by a 48-year-old Casa Grande, AZ man was going eastbound on I-20, approaching a curve in the road. Police say the roads were covered in ice at the time and allege the truck was traveling at a speed unsafe for the road conditions. As a result, investigators believe the truck lost control and veered from the road, sliding into a median before overturning. A 34-year-old passenger, who is believed to have been asleep in the berth of the truck, was seriously injured. That individual was hospitalized. The driver was evaluated for possible injuries.
